“Military Seeks Ideas From Technology Start-ups”
DeVenCi: Defense Venture Catalyst Initiative has been set up by the U.S. military to identify small start-ups developing technologies beyond the Department of Defense’s supply chain. The process involves exploratory meetings with venture capitalists. Site.
“Unlike other government investment efforts, such as the Central Intelligence Agency’s In-Q-Tel and the U. S. Army’s OnPoint, DeVenCI does not fund the development of new technologies or businesses. Rather, DeVenCI operates as a catalyst initiative focused on improving communications and mutual understanding between innovators and the DoD. “
In-Q-Tel: this is a CIA venture which invests in start-ups creating products than can be leveraged by the intelligence community. Site.

DARPA: the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has traditionally sponsored leading edge technologies, such as ARPANET, which eventually evolved to become the Internet as we know it today. Site.
