Mobile Blogging (4)… Why?
I’m back on my PC… this was fun, meaning I actually enjoyed being able to use my phone to create and to upload stuff on the fly (see previous blogs: #1, #2, #3). However, now the question is whether moblogging will stick once the novelty goes away.
To be frank, I see myself using it quite often now that I know how it works and how simple this is. My HSDPA phone gives me ubiquitous access to my blog. So I can share pictures and comments right away from a trade show, while waiting for my flight at the gate, or from any other place for that matter.
This would also allow me to share meeting notes in restricted areas of my website. Peers would get my notes by visiting the blog (pull model), but most would receive automatic RSS feeds (push model) or emails depending of their preferences. Blogging software is a document management tool, so my postings can be tagged, searched, retrieved and mashed-up as needed.
Judging from Joi Ito’s blog on the history of moblogging, which was posted in June 2003, I’m 4 years late. Better late than never :-)
